2ND DAY OF ENGLISH READING COMPETITION (U.KG)
“Today a reader, Tomorrow a leader.”
English Reading Competition (2nd Day) is organized for Upper Kindergarten (U.KG) students to encourage them to develop their reading skills and foster a love for literature at an early age. This competition has been conducted on the 9th, 10th, and 11th of July 2024 at St. Xavier’s Kindergarten. Coordinator Anju Bala, along with other KG staff, conducted this competition in a well and organised manner.
The primary objective of this competition is to enhance the reading abilities of young children, ensuring they can read fluently and comprehend the material. Additionally, participating in the competition helps children gain confidence in their reading and public speaking abilities. By exposing students to various levels of the competition and rewarded them at each level they passed.
The structure of the competition involves the careful selection of age-appropriate texts that are both engaging and educational for U.KG students. Participants were assessed on their reading fluency, pronunciation, expression, and comprehension. Winners were awarded certificates and prizes to acknowledge their efforts and achievements.
The competition itself is held in a supportive environment where each child gets the opportunity to read in front of an audience. Constructive feedback is provided to all participants to help them improve their reading skills further.
In conclusion, the Competition was a valuable initiative that supported the holistic development of young learners. By focusing on reading skills, the competition not only prepares students for future academic challenges but also nurtures a love for literature that can last a lifetime.
